I have to give a big shout out to my good friend, Alissa, who volunteered to put together this super fun little music class for moms and kids (ages 1-3) at our ward bldg. every Friday morning. It's called "Music Makers" and the kids LOVE it! Caysja will ask me "is moosic maka day?" Alissa has the kids sing songs, play instruments, tap rhythm sticks, march around, run/skip/jump, play with "egg shakers", dance with scarves, and she even has a huge parachute the the kids get to lie on while the moms pull them around the gym floor, or lie underneath while the moms "fan" them. And she heads all this up at nearly 9 months preggo! Way to go, Alissa, and thanks so much for doing it! (Unfortunately the ONE day I remembered to bring my camera, the battery died before I got any pics of the instruments, or parachute!)

That sounds like so much fun. :) I didn't know who to tag because I don't really know who reads my blog that much. :) I'm sure I read your tag, but I'll go back and read it again. I didn't know you were homeschooled. I have heard so many different things from so many different people and most of them are negative, which makes it really hard to make the decision, but I think that's what Danny and I really want to do. How was your familie's experience with it?
Haha. I just read your comment again and realized that you said you liked it. :) I guess I might not be a good teacher if I can't even read. ;) Hahaha.
Thanks Criscell, You really didn't need to mention me but I appreciate your thankfulness. You better hope this baby doesn't come or else you'll be teaching music makers the next 2 weeks.
She is totally amazing. LeiLani loves it too. Everytime we leave the house she says, "Sing Song" We have a blast
What a fun idea! I can image that the kids absolutely love it.
That's an awesome idea! My ward could use some music motivation for sure! That's a good thought...hmmmmm. :)
How fun for the kids! That is really nice that she put that together!
I love these music makers pictures. They capture the essence of our music time. Just look at the faces of Caysja, Miah and Gunnar as they shake those shakers as hard as they can. I love it!
I have totally heard about this and want to join in. WHere? What time? What do I bring? Cost? I would love to help and bring Lilly. I am having a baby tomorrow, but maybe in a couple weeks if it is still going on. GO ALISSA!
Alissa is adorable.
I have been dying to go. It looks so fun. Addie would love it!
Thomas loved music makers. It really is so much fun. Hey, to add the "yes on 102" pic just save it onto your computer from by blog and then add it as a picture in your layout. (I got it from a friend's blog too!)
What a fun idea! That looked like the kids had a blast! You look so great!
What a great idea. That looks like a lot of fun. Sometimes I wish I lived in an area where there are more young adults/toddlers around.
You look really good too. Your belly is getting bigger. Hope you're feeling well.
Sweet! I ordered a bunch of stuff for our nursery music leader about a year ago to use, like the egg shakers, scarves, rhythm sticks, and misc. instruments. The kids just LOVE them. I don't know how much our music leader actually uses them, but sometimes the nursery leaders use them too. What a great idea. That would be a blast!!!
Fun! We had a group like that in my old ward that I went to a few times, but it seemed my kids misbehaved a lot so I quit going, hee hee.
Cute! That looks like such a fun class!!
My friend with a Masters Degree in piano performance/pedagogy from SMU (Texas) told me about this program called Musicgarten, it's a spin off from Kindermusik with more of an emphasis on experience than performance, and that music makers sounds really similar. She got certified to teach musicgarten and I've been thinking about sometime in the future getting certified to do it too. I'm supposed to get some more information from her.
That looks like so much fun. I can't wait to have a baby and do fun things. Well my house is spotless because who knows when are house is going to get showed. Its nice to have a clean house. Yeah we do get discounted tickets. We hope we can help out our friends.
