I really love General Conference and this year was no different. I really needed it. I am so grateful to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and sealed to my family for all eternity. I love to hear our leaders speak to us and it makes me renewed to be a better person, wife, mother, friend, neighbor, daughter, etc.
I think the talk that really hit home for me this time was President Monson's talk in today's morning session. It really made me cry (okay, maybe some of that was pregnancy hormones--I feel like I've cried a lot lately) but it was seriously meant for me. Sometimes I get so caught up in all the things I think I "should" be doing that I know I forget about the most important things--the eternal ones! He talked about finding "Joy in the Journey" and not getting caught up in all the little things that don't really matter. We don't want to end up with a lot of "empty yesterdays" because time moves too quickly and our children are grown and gone before we know it. We need to do things TODAY. I need to play with my little girl more today and not worry if the dishes don't get done right then, or my apartment isn't "spotless"all the time, or the laundry doesn't get folded immediately.
I really liked the quote he mentioned from Shakespeare, (something to the effect), "he who does not express love has never really loved". How often do I just assume that my husband/child/family know I love them without me telling them frequently? I know I can do better at this and I will try to for sure. I have to add that my other favorite talk was Elder Holland's on Angels. He is a great speaker and the story he told about the little boy who was lost made me cry! I have certainly had many angels in my life. What was your favorite talk?

I loved Pres Monson's talk too. It was a great reminder to live in the present. I had my friend who isn't a member over and I hope she liked it too. I really enjoyed Elder Cook's talk this afternoon.
I loved that talk by President Monson. It made me cry too, and I'm not pregnant. (I cried during several talks).
I really loved Elder Worthlin's talk about laughing.
There were several talks on dealing with difficulty, and I thought that was good- there are so many difficult things we face, it's good to have a little persepctive.
I also liked President Eyring's talk on unity, and finding common ground on issues where we may think we disagree- that there may more more in common than we thing.
Excellent conference, although I ate too many MM's playing conference bingo with the boys. :)
that should be think not thing. I need to proof read. :)
I really liked that Pres. Monson talk too. It's too easy to forget everything that is good going on. Now I have a good excuse not to do the dishes! ;)
I loved everything. It was so amazing. I felt like I had never sat through a conference as good as this one. My favorites were probably Pres. Uchtdorf's about HOPE and Sis. Dalton's about virtue. But I can't pick because they were all amazing.
General Conference was so GREAT, wasn't it? President Monson's hit home with me too. Its amazing how you can take everyone's talk and somehow apply it to our lives:-)
I also watched the video you posted earlier and couldn't believe what they are allowing in grade school in Mass. I really hope that doesn't happen when Audrey starts school (not that I am judging...just worried). We all really do need to do our part to help out with our children's future.
We really enjoyed conference, too. I had bought some $1 crafts at Joanns that Brynn did during it, and I got a good start on the girls' Halloween costumes -- yeah!
If I have to pick just one favorite, I think it would have to be Elder Holland's, about angels. I LOVED that one for some reason. But President Uchtdorf's and President Monson's are virtually tied with that one.
yes conference was so good! I think this talk hits home for every parent, it's so easy to get caught up in things that aren't important! I have lots of work to do in that department!
I am growing to love President Monson. His talks really made me feel like he was speaking to us from the Lord. He is truly a prophet meant to lead us through troubled times. He has such a spirit of compassion and an aura of comfort around him. He loves every individual he meets and believes it it so important to take time to know them. After the last few weeks of presidental election excitement, Pres. Monson's talks really put my troubled heart at ease. :)
That was my favorite talk too! It's so easy to get caught up in the daily tasks of keeping things in order. My sister told me something that I try very hard to keep in mind, "when you pass away and look back at your life are you going to say, man I wish I had kept my bathrooms cleaner, or are you going to wish you had spent more time with the kids?" I hope I have no regrets!
I totally can't pick a favorite!! I loved L. Tom Perry's, as you know, and also Elder Oaks, about Sacrament being sacred. Cory and I FINALLY made it to the temple last Friday night, so all the stuff he was saying connecting the Sacrament and the Temple really made a TON of sense, and I have a renewed commitment to make Sacrament meeting a more sacred meeting, and to encourage others to do the same. Pres. Eyring's talk about unity hit home too-the last time when Cory and I have disagreements on little issues (like how much "fun" money we have) I came to the realization that it's not a MONEY issue, but a UNITY issue. If he and I were unified and he would not spend on anything I wouldn't spend on and if I would only spend on things he would spend on, then we'd never have a disagreement In theory. hehe. And I LOVE when Elder Bendar uses old devotional talks, because I can't tell you how many times I would listen to him and think: "The whole CHURCH needs this talk! This needs to be in general conference!" and to have that affirmation that God too feels that the whole church needs to hear those same words gives me goosebumps all over. But seriously, I think this time I could find a good point in every single one of the talks.
I feel especially this time through that my testimony was constantly being reaffirmed, that everything I heard, the spirit said "You already know this and it's still true"
I am also beside myself with joy knowing that one of my best friends in Kansas will soon have a temple closer than a day's travel away and that the people of Italy will get their FIRST temple! Not to mention Argentina getting their 2nd temple, and the other two.
And don't feel bad about living 100% off loans. Some of the older generation doesn't understand it because they weren't required to do it, but that's the price of an education these days and we will be blessed. Personally we want to find a job that will offer loan forgiveness afterwards!
Sorry that was dang huge! I am just too long winded for my own good...
Well said Criscell! Caysja is getting to be such a big girl! When are you due? And yes, conference was wonderful. My favorite talk was from R.S. General meeting when Sister Beck talked about how her mom went on a mission, and R.S. was going to be her mother while she was gone. My mom is going on a mission next year, and I will miss her dearly.
Keep in touch, Jo

I also loved President Monson's talk! I think it was my favorite. I loved how motivational it was. I also liked how he said enjoy life NOW, and don't wait until you wake up to a lot of empty yesterdays.
I also liked Elder Wirthlin's talk about the boy who was autistic. He would watch the baseball go by until it fell on the ground. Then, he would pull a baseball out of his own pocket to throw back to the pitcher. I thought that was so adorable.
I am so glad you posted about this. I too loved his talk. I gleaned a lot from Elder Oaks, Bednar, and Eyring's talks. I kind of want to go back and reread them before I post my comments of them. But again, thanks for posting! I loved to hear people's testimonies of what they learned. It helps mine to grow.
How is your pregnancy going? Mine has been good to me. I must be used to it or something cuz I remember being a whole lot more anxious the first time around!!
Wow, what a great conference. I liked that we were told to live simply. When I worked in Utah, I couldn't believe how every bankruptcy I filed had the same furniture store listed as a creditor. And weren't there a lot of native Spanish speakers? Goes to show this is really a worldwide church. I predict that learning Spanish will be required by the time our kids reach high school.
I loved conference. With the times we lived in it was so comforting to hear to have hope and just enjoy the journey. I really needed this one!
I loved conference, too!!! The only problem was I had a little heater laying on me asleep for the second Sunday session and it was really hard to keep my eyes open. :)
I did post about winter and how much I love it, but I did say that I liked summer better. ;) You are more than welcome to come trade me spots at any time during the winter so I can go swimming and you can enjoy he snow. ;) Hahaha
You're awesome girl. I love reading your blog.

I love seeing all those cute pictures of your family. Hope it's ok to check in on your blog every once in a while. And just so you know, Eden loves playing with your daughter on Friday nights. We think this babysitting group is great!
I didn't sew them, but I did put them together. I bought some stretchy pants (I guess they're back in style now) and dyed them red, bought long sleeved red t-shirts, black underwear to put over them, black gloves, long black socks, and iron-on logos. I bought the masks at a craft store and colored them black with a permanent marker. I really think they turned out cute. I can't wait to get pictures up. :)
Hi Criscell, you asked how I find out about places to go for fun. The best resource we have is an Omaha tourist book from AAA (my parents gave it to us) or travel books we were given when we moved here. Every city usually has a Welcome/tourist center. Try and find one of those and get brochurse about everything nearby.
Me again. Try out this website:

That candy factory sounds like fun. You also have a free botanical gardens. And Adam had a lot of fun at Cabelas. I know it is a sports store, but their animal displays, fish tank, and tents are pretty fun for kids. The bead museum could be fun too. For the holidays, Glendale Glitters sounds like there will be lots of fun things to do. Also try these websites: http://travel.yahoo.com/p-travelguide-6617065-glendale_things_to_do-i

Good luck!
P.S. I found these websites by searching in google under "Glendale, AZ, attractions"
