As you can see, the "newness" of blogging hasn't worn off yet and I still spend hours of my day reading other people's blogs, commenting on them, and then posting some things of my own. It's definitely VERY addicting! We'll see how long I keep it up...

President Hinckley, We Will Miss You!!

I am so sad to hear of President Hinckley's passing. He passed away last night about 7pm but we went to bed really early and didn't hear the sad news until today. He was 97 years old.

President Hinckley is the prophet I grew up with. He has been the prophet for most of my life and I will miss him so much! His bright smile, quick wit, sense of humor, positive attitude about everything, encouragement to always "do a little better" and "stand a little taller", etc. are just a few of the things I will remember about him.

I will never forget how much he loved the people of this church. He was ALWAYS telling us how much he loved us and choking up! He will also be remembered for all the temples he has dedicated. I think the number is over 70. What a legacy! He has been an incredible teacher, leader, inspirational speaker, and prophet to this church. How blessed I am to have been alive during his leadership. I am happy that he can be with his sweet wife now. President Hinckley, we love you so much and you will be greatly missed!!

The "bubbas" are back!!

Our "bubbas" (hot tub) are finally fixed!! Here is Caysja and her two friends, Ian and Miah, having a great time enjoying the heated water of both our hot tub and pool. (Yes, we are spoiled! The concept of swimming in January still boggles my mind!!)

After dinner tonight, we decided to give Caysja her very first bubble bath! She LOVED it and kept saying "bubbas, bubbas" over and over! As you can see, she decked herself out in bubbles! Who needs a hot tub when you've got your very own bath tub!?

Buddies

This is Caysja with her friend Presten at a surprise birthday party we went to over the weekend. They had a lot of fun pulling all the balloons off and tossing them around! They make a cute couple, eh? (We couldn't get them to smile for anything, but don't be fooled--they were having a ton of fun together!)

Time for bed!

Caysja LOVES books! She will look at them and try to "read" them and then bring them to either Caleb or me to read to her saying, "book book!" You could read the same book to her over and over and she would be happy! We always read about 3-4 books before bed. Now if we could only get her to be more reverent when we read the scriptures at night...

Here she is in her towel fresh out of the bathtub. She usually runs to see daddy and then he tickles her til her towel falls off! We call her our little "towel girl".

Caysja says the cutest things! The other day we went swimming and unfortunately our hot tub is broken and Caysja wanted to go in it so bad! I told her we couldn't and then she made the saddest face and looked at me and said, "bubbas boken". Yes, Caysja, the "bubbles" are broken! Too bad! we're just lucky to be swimming in January! We wouldn't be doing that at home in Idaho...

Yippee!!! Mitt Romney won Michigan!!

He's got my vote for President, that's for sure!!

Life in the the Valley of the Sun!

Yesterday after dinner we decided to take a little hike up to the top of a hill near our apartment. It was quite the hike and took nearly an hour! Once we got there the view was amazing and totally worth it--plus we got to see the sun set and it was just gorgeous!

Like Mother, Like Daughter!!

On Saturday after my flute student left, I decided to get out the "baby flute" and let Caysjie try it out. What can I say? She's a natural! No, I didn't buy her a piccolo for Christmas--at least not yet, that is... Her Grandpa Burger just happens to have access to old instruments and when they are about to be "retired" he can give a few away here and there... Caysja just loves her "baby flute" and she tried so hard to make a sound just like mommy! She's gonna be a pro! (Oh, and by the way, her shirt says "Grandma's reason to brag--pretty appropriate, eh?)

Amen! ("ahbee")

Caysja has started saying "ahbee" at the end of our prayers and we finally figured out that she was trying to say "amen". It is really cute to hear! Anyway, the other night she must have thought that Caleb was going on and on because right in the middle of the prayer she said "ahbee, ahbee, ahbee" over and over as if to say, "could you hurry it up there, dad"? We got a good laugh out of that one.

She LOVES dogs! She likes cats, too, but dogs are her favorite I think. We checked out a book at the library last week full of pages of animals, but whenever I read it to her she just wants to look at the page of the dogs and she'll say "dog dog" and "ruff ruff" over and over. Too bad we can't have any animals in our apartment here.

Caysja likes to "help" me fold the clothes (mostly unfold them) and after that's done, she thinks the laundry basket is just her size!

Look what Santa brought!

So I know Caysja doesn't really "get" the whole idea of Santa yet, but she sure has enjoyed playing with what he brought! She likes to put all her "babies" in her stroller and then take them on walks when we go feed the ducks. You'll notice her favorite stuffed animal "Mr. Lion" is in this picture, and he's lost right now! We have searched EVERYWHERE for him and he is gone! It's so sad!

This was Caysja's first meeting with "Ol' St. Nick" and she wasn't too happy about it either! You can't tell from the picture, but she was crying pretty bad! It was pretty funny actually.

I LOVE this picture! (Okay, so it would be better if she had her hair done, but that usually doesn't happen until we're almost out the door for church!) This is her new dress she got for Christmas.

McCormick Train Park fun!

Caysja had SO much fun with her "gah gaws" (grandparents) when they were here for Christmas break! We all took a day and went to the model train park in Scottsdale and she got to ride on the miniature train and the carousel. She wasn't a bit scared this time. (A little help from grandpa didn't hurt.)

I finally gave in!!

Okay, so I finally gave in and created a blog! After looking at my friend's cute blogs for quite some time now, I have taken the plunge to create my own! I'll add it to my many New Year's resolutions for 2008. I think it is a good way to keep in touch with family and friends and it should be fun, so here goes!
