I just
love General Conference!!! It is always exactly what I need to hear. Although it's pretty hard to get a lot out of it with two kids around, what I was able to hear was wonderful. I think my favorite talk of all (though I have several that I loved) was Robert D. Hales' talk on "Provident Living". I loved how he talked about living within our means and not buying things that we really can't afford and don't "need". ( If only I could remember that when I'm out shopping!) I enjoyed the story he told about his wife and how he wanted to buy her that nice dress and she went and put it back on the shelf, saying, "we just can't afford it right now." One of my favorite sayings lately is, "to everything there is a time and season". We may not have the money for certain things right now, but that's okay. Now is just not the season for it. I'm so grateful for what I DO have--my two darling children, my wonderful husband who is working so hard to provide for us, my parents and in-laws, great friends, my safe home, food to eat, and so much more. Another of my favorite talks was Elder Holland's talk on the Savior's atonement and resurrection. His talks always move me to tears! It was the perfect talk for this time of year with the celebration of Easter coming up this weekend. What did you like from Conference?

So many great talks. I think my favorite was Elder Holland's on the Savior and Elder Bednar's on temple attendance. I can't wait for the Ensign - so I can read all the ones I missed because of the kiddo's!!
I agree, Elder Holland's talk was beautiful. This conference session was really humbling for me. I'm glad I wasn't the only one struggling to watch because of the kids. It's almost impossible! Thank goodness for DVR!:)
Such a sweet post. I was so grateful for Conference, and the continuing thoughts on maintaining faith and hope no matter what happens in our lives and surroundings. I also loved Elder Holland's talk. It was so neat to hear that this Easter week. I lOVE hearing Pres. Monson. His stories always touch me, and I also really liked Elder Bednar's talk on the temple.
Agreed, those both were really great! I've been watching the ones that I've missed on the website which is wonderful. Conference is so wonderful and always much needed!
Elder Hales was my favorite talk too. Totally what I needed to hear. Although, I am pretty sure that I am not as good as his wife at saying... We can't afford it. It made me want to do better. Along the needs and wants line... This General Conference we discovered the secret to getting your children to watch it... Okay, it only works if they are older... But just remember this when yours get nine or so. One word DVR. It was so great. Everytime Spencer and Sam started acting crazy during the ONE session that I asked them to sit down and watch, I would just pause it. They knew that the longer they acted up the longer the conference would last. It was wonderful. Now I am pretty sure that because of this DVR is now a need instead of a want. HA HA.
Elder Hales touched me too. Same, same. I liked watching online so I could pause when I needed to - that was sweet, because, like you said - things can get crazy with two little ones.
