Our Little Daisy

We started off the month of October with Caysja's Investiture Ceremony for Girl Scouts on Oct. 6th.  This is where they take the Girl Scout oath and pledge and "officially" become Daisy Girl Scouts.  At the conclusion they were each given their daisy pins.  Each girl had a small speaking part and then they sang several songs.  It was really so adorable.

What We've Been up to...

I'm long overdue for an update...sorry!  We've been keeping busy as always.  Capri's favorite thing lately is to climb the stairs and then scream at the top for someone to come get her since she can't get down!  (So far she hasn't fallen down, knock on wood!)

We baby-sat our cousins for several days a while ago and they all had a blast together.  It was warm enough to go to Liberty Park so here they are after swimming in the "little rivers".

One of our friends gave us a monarch caterpillar.  It was so neat to watch it turn into such a beautiful butterfly!  My kids didn't want to say goodbye to it.  Thanks, Millie and Jen, for such a neat opportunity!

In Sept. Caysja started Girl Scouts.  She is a Daisy--the first level.  She loves it and she has made some good friends already.  Here she is in her new uniform all ready to go.

Utah State Fair and Liberty Park

A couple weeks ago our cousins were in town we we went to the Utah Sate Fair together.  They had the cutest thing for kids--a little "farm" experience with treats at the end--all for free!

These pics were taken a while ago...it's a little chilly for swimsuits lately.  Back when it was really hot, one of our favorite places to go was Liberty Park's "Seven Canyons".  My kids love to wade in all the little rivers, streams, lakes, waterfalls, etc.  This was a special day because Caleb actually had the day off and was able to come with us.

So this post is a little overdue...(I couldn't find my cord to upload pics).  Caysja started Kindergarten at Foxboro Elementary on Aug. 29th.  She was soooo excited and would ask me every day, "Mom is today the day I get to go to school?"  The week before school started we went to to meet her teacher and have her pre-assessment test completed.  Her teacher was very impressed that she could write both her first and last name as well as read some simple sentences.  She said she would put Caysja in the advanced reading group.  I really like her teacher, Mrs. Lund.  She is very kind and also very organized.  We live so close to the school (about three min. away) and we can walk there every day.  Tues. are Caysja's favorite day because she has P.E. (right now they're playing soccer) and music time.  On Mondays she has computer and every Fri. is show-and-tell.  She's made lots of new friends at the "yellow table" (where she sits).

Of course Crew had to be in the picture too.  He was soooo sad he wasn't going to school with her.  He just cried and cried that first day.  He would say over and over, "Crewser five, Crewser go school with Kiki"!  He also really wanted a backpack so Santa Claus might have to step up for that one...
It is nice that Caysja has afternoon Kindergarten so Crew isn't too lonely without her since he's napping during that time.  When he wakes up, she's home!

Here we are about to say goodbye on the first day...I wondered if I would cry... but I didn't.  She was sooo happy and excited to be there and not about to cry herself, so why should I cry?

Our Princess Priesie is ONE!

Our sweet little Capri turned one on Sunday August 14th.  We were already in Idaho for Caleb's parent's homecoming so it worked out perfectly to celebrate her birthday with all our family and cousins.  We had a little party for her after dinner with cupcakes and ice cream.  

Capri is such a precious little angel.  I can't believe she is one already!!  Seriously, where did that year go?!?   I feel like she and I have a special bond because she helped me get through that long year of Caleb being away month after month.  She (along with my other kids) was my reason to keep going each day.  I think the Lord knew I was going to need someone to cuddle and hold at night when I was lonesome.  I can't imagine life without her.  Thanks for coming to our family, Priesie!  We love you so much!

Some fun facts about Priesie:

1. She has super blue eyes and very blond hair
2.  weighs approx. 18 lbs. 
3.  loves to crawl but no signs of walking yet
4. VERY picky eater (even more than Caysja was at her age!) but it might be just a stage
5. favorite food:...who knows right now!
6. first word:  "mama" --can also say "dada" now too
7. knows how to sign "all done" and "more"
8. favorite toys:  LOVES the remote control or my cell phone and camera 
9. patient disposition:  Caysja likes to carry her all around the house--including up and down the stairs and in and out of the pack'n play and for the most part, Capri lets her
10. good sleeper as long as it's dark and quiet!
11. can wave bye-bye, clap hands, blow kisses, give high fives
12. She can drink out of all kinds of straws!

WELCOME HOME Grandma and Grandpa Roberts

Caleb's parents, Lorna and DeLoy, got home from their 23 month mission to the Dominican Republic on August 1, 2011.  Unfortunately we didn't get to see them fly in that night because Caleb had to work.  But we drove home two weeks later to hear them report their mission in church.  They did a wonderful job and really helped the PEF (Perpetual Education Fund) expand in the Carribean.  We're so proud of their service!

Caysja and Crew were so excited to see them again after nearly two years!  The first thing Caysja told them was, "I haven't seen you for forty years!"  Ha ha-- I'm sure that's what it felt like to her!
